Day 0 | France
19 July 2019, Les Mesnil-Amelot, France | 6:55 AM
Well, I arrived to France today, making it day 0! I am writing this as I am wrapping up my all-nighter to fight off the jet-lag (per Professor Teo’s instructions).
Highlights:
Although I have been couped up in this temporary hotel room and limited to the view of the industrial construction building in front of me, I got a glimpse of how aesthetically beautiful France is (while on the way to the hotel)
I got to see the sunrise at 5:47 AM, and I took some pictures of it (had a small little freakout that I didn’t bring my DSLR battery, lol rip)
I am truly enjoying the solitude here: during this all-nighter, I not only had the chance to working on a video I’ve been meaning to finish FOREVER , but also got to organize my laptop from files that were stuffed in there since Fall 2018
Lowlights:
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it took me a while to register that I am in a completely foreign country, and I am on my own devices to navigate studying abroad by myself. I totally forgot how liberating this was.
When it rains, it pours: I’m not kidding. In the short 45 seconds that it took for me to walk over to my hotel from the restaurant I ate dinner at, a thunderstorm started pouring…. I gotta be careful.
I guess this does it for Entry #1 for my Paris excursion, but I truly hope to do this consistently throughout my study abroad program - I really want to remember everything!
